Was going to buy one of these at Home Depot after my car was broken into in my driveway. A great idea poorly executed. There were three on the shelf — all of them looked as if they’d been returned. When I took one out I could see why — the material is VERY cheap and flimsy. Immediately put it back on the shelf and am now looking at having a REAL security light wired into the house. More expensive – yes. Better, longer lasting and more reliably — oh yeah. Only buy this if you want a short-term, cheap, light-duty fixture.

Picked of of these up at Home Depot. About the brightness of a sickly match (if even that much). Not recommended.

I just received this from Amazon last night. The batteries came partially charged and when I pulled the paper strip, the light turned on immediately. I then took out the 3 AA batteries and charged directly from AC.

I then took it outside and tested the range of the motion sensor, pretty good when in the mid-range setting. Roughly 35 ft. It looks like it can dimly light up 30′x60′ area from my initial evaluation.

My package is missing screws, so I’ll have to wait until the weekend to set up for further evaluation.

I plan to install this at my mom’s house so I’m trying to be as familiar with the product before I get there.

    Two additional considerations…

I think the batteries it comes with are 700mah, I may switch to at least 2400mah, but I’ll still do a first charge from AC before installing. This is just what I do with all of my solar light products.

Second, I may purchase 1-2 more for her house to make sure there’s light in the alley where the garage is as well as the backyard.

She lives in CA, I live in Western PA. If my tests are successful here, we should be good to go for there. Just glad it’s not the other way around. ;)

This light stinks. It’s probably enough security lighting for bats. It barely sheds enough light to actually notice its there…Waste of money…Stick to a hard wired light.
